Painting house?

We want to paint our house. what color do you suggest? Our house has 4 rooms. The curtains are pink with green leaves in the background. The furniture is wooden (light brown) and its cloth colors is 40% cream,30% green,20% dark brown and 10% dark red which form 4 birds in a garden( the cloth picture).

Since you can change the furniture and curtains in time, you may want to go with a neutral color that will blend well with anything. Remember that often colors seem lighter than they really are when you look at a small sample, so find a color you like on someone's walls and match it to a sample. You may find that the sample is lighter than you expected it to be.

When I painted my house, I tried to paint it "white" - I found out there were many MANY shades of so called "white" - I chose one. Then when I put blinds on the windows, I found that the white on the walls was more beige and the white on the blinds was more blue. Alone each seemed white, but together they looked off. I suggest being very careful in choosing your colors and making sure everything matches the way you want it to BEFORE you paint.

Congratulations on your home's new look!!!
Reply:Considering the colors you will have in the room/rooms, your best bet is to go neutral like a tan or beige - some look very classy . Or you could choose a color out of the furniture colors, eg a light sage green might go , or a coffee color . Or depending on which room has the curtains or furniture you could do them different colors. Like if the curtains are in the bedroom go with green, the furniture in the living room , go coffee or tan. Just remember, the darker the color the smaller it makes the room and the harder it is to cover up if you decide you don't like it. If you don't trust your taste in color you could hire a decorator for about $80.00 to give you suggestions, or if you have a good paint store person, take a sample to them and they will usually help with suggestions.
